ABSTRACT CHINESE MIXED MEDIA PAINTING BY ZAO WOU KI
Zao Wou Ki, Chinese, French, 1921 to 2013, mixed media painting on board depicting an abstract composition, Their Friend. Signed and titled, lower right. Inscribed with a dedication in French, For Claude, lower left. Framed. Wou Ki Zao is known for Non objective and abstract landscape painting, sculpture. Zao Zhao Wou Ki combines Oriental landscape abstraction with French influence. Zao Wou Ki was a Chinese French painter. He was a member of the Academie des Beaux Arts in Paris. Zao Wou Ki graduated from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, where he studied under Fang Ganmin and Wu Dayu. Zaos works, influenced by Paul Klee, are orientated to abstraction. His meetings with Henri Michaux pushed him to review his Indian ink techniques, always based in Chinese traditional drawings. One of a kind artwork.
