RUSSIAN SILVER JADE DIAMONDS LETTER OPENER KNIFE
A high quality Russian 88 gilt silver letter opener knife. The handle is covered with green enamel over a patterned guilloche ground and adorned with applied gilt silver overlay depicting scroll foliage motifs set with ruby cabochons and surrounding the red enameled K cipher intertwined with a diamond-set anchor, possibly for Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich, 1876 to 1938, captain of the Russian Imperial navy. The backside has the same motif with an Imperial crown set with diamond and ruby gemstones in the center. The blade of the knife is made of hand carved Nephrite Jade and decorated with intricate gilt silver diamond and ruby set overlays. Features a figural Russian Imperial double headed eagle engraved with detailed patterns on the top. Hallmarked with an 88 Imperial Russian silver standard and other Russian hallmarks.
