RUSSIAN CARVED QUARTZITE FIGURE OF A HIPPO IOB
A Russian figurine of a hippo realistically carved of quartzite in a standing position. Glass inserts as eyes. Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which was originally pure quartz sandstone. Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression within orogenic belts. Presented in a fitted wooden case.
