ANTIQUE RUSSIAN CAST IRON FIGURATIVE HIDALGO INKWELL
An antique early 20th-century Russian soot-coated cast iron inkwell with hinged lid. The item represents a head of a bearded man in plumed hat and ruff collar. This design is known as The Head of Hidalgo and refers to the Spanish nobility of the Early Modern era. Presumably a Kasli production, a Ural town known for its iron sculptures. Unmarked.
