RUSSIAN OIL PAINTING BY LEON GASPARD 1927
A vintage Russian oil painting on canvas by Leon Gaspard after Vladimir Makovsky, 1927. The original painting was created by Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky in 1887 and was called On the Boulevard. The painting depicts a date in autumn on an old Moscow boulevard. Signed and dated 1927 lower right. Leon Shulman Gaspard, 1882 to 1964, was an artist born in the Russian Empire, known for his paintings depicting local cultures and folk traditions. He tended to paint scenes with crowds of people, and his favorite places were small towns in Belarus, Russia, Asia, and Taos, New Mexico. Russian Paintings, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
