CHARLES ETHAN PORTER AMERICAN WATERCOLOR PAINTING
Charles Ethan Porter, American, 1847 to 1923, watercolor painting on paper depicting a still life with rose flowers and a bowl. Signed lower right. Framed. Charles Porter is known for Fruit and floral still life painting. One of the first African Americans to exhibit at the National Academy of Design, Charles Porter specialized in fruit and floral still life painting and was active both in New York and Hartford, Connecticut. From 1869, he studied at the National Academy, and from 1881 to 1884 was in Paris before settling in Hartford, where he became a friend of Mark Twain. African American Fine Art, Floral Still Life Paintings, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
