ATTR TO GERTRUDE ABERCROMBIE AMERICAN OIL PAINTING
Attributed to Gertrude Abercrombie, American, 1909 to 1977, oil painting on masonite depicting an owl. Signed lower left and dated 1955. With a label mounted to the back. Framed. Called the queen of the bohemian artists, Abercrombie was involved in the Chicago jazz scene and was friends with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, and Sarah Vaughan, whose music inspired her own creative work.
