An Antique 19th Century Chinese Porcelain Saucer
Antique 19th Century Chinese Porcelain Saucer with Provenance. With gilded rim, on white background, a Blue vase with flowers in the middle and various gift symbols on the outside. Underside with indistinguishable red underglaze mark. Ca. Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. Size: 5 1/4". Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
