A MORO BARONG SWORD
Of characteristic form, the grip carved of exotic hardwood with silver ferrule and broad, crested pommel. The Chinese handforged single-edged blade retains its sharp edge, with maker’s mark struck at the forte. In its wooden scabbard with decorated opening and tip. Latter 19th century. Grip with stable crack, losses to scabbard. Deaccessioned from the John Woodman Higgins Armory Museum, originally acquired October, 1947. Overall length 63.4cm. Condition III
