Avi Schwartz (born 1938) is an Israeli painter.

Schwartz was born in Bucharest, Romania, to a diamond family. He absorbed the values of art in a house whose walls were decorated with paintings from his father's rich collection. The realistic paintings with the portraits and landscapes were considered classics and my father even aspired to imitate them. During World War II, when Bucharest was bombed, he was forced to stay at home for a long time. In those days he copied the paintings that stood before his eyes.
In the coloristic aspect, Schwartz painted in burnt Sienna colors, Prussian blue and ocher yellow and combines colors that come to emphasize the Israeli sunlight and the strong contrasts. His work seeps into the urban fabric, into the neighborhoods of Jaffa, into its cafes, the sea, the port, etc. Schwartz's works deal with a figurative representation of space, and with the representation of figures while drawing immediately, which absorbs impressions at the time they occur, and the occurrences that occupy him repeatedly touch on figures from the margins of society. Hard-working people at rest and during toil.
