Three Jews - Moshe Gotbir.
Accurate carving work by the artist Moshe Gutbir, three Jews together.
Height 29 cm.
Moshe Gutbir was born in 1902 and grew up in Ludmir in Volhynia Province, Russian Empire (now Ukraine). He learned the craft of sculpture in his family's foundry in Ludmir. In about 1926 he immigrated to Palestine-AI. In the late 1920s he moved to live in Ramat Gan. For his living he worked repairing engines in his father's garage in Ramat Gan. In the 1950s he began to practice sculpture as an autodidact. His works, in the techniques of wood sculpture, casting or assemblage, contain figurative images, many of them related to the description "the Jewish town".
