FRENCH FOUNDRY XVIII-XIX CENTURY
Couple of candelabra with satyrs
Silvered and gilded bronze. Light wearing. Satyr: 21 x 13 x 12,5 cm with base and 17,5 x 9,5 x 8 cm without. Satyress: 22 x 12,5 x 9,8 cm with base and 18,5 x 8 x 7,5 cm without.
Lovely pair of candelabra depicting a satyr and a satyress holding a golden vase that contains the wax pan.
These highly sensual models are inherited from the work of XVIII century French bronze artists, such as Claude Michel Clodion (1714-1785).
Both the satyr and the satyress are down to the finest details. Thanks to the quality of the chiseling, these enchanting bronze statuettes can almost be considered goldsmithery.
