Samphire by JE Giraud 1845
This original hand-coloured floral print of Samphire is from The Flowers of Shakespeare by Jane Elizabeth Giraud, Published privately, Faversham, 1845.
This print is beautifully illustrated and is accompanied by a quotation from Shakespeare's play King Lear.
Each print has the identifier 'J.E.G. del et lith', and all were printed by Day & Haghe, lithographers to the Queen.
This charming Victorian work of delightful floral bouquets is now very scarce. Each print was brilliantly hand-coloured and then highlighted with gum Arabic.
Size: Approximately 9.5in x 12in (24cm x 30cm) with the paper very slightly creamy and the colours very vivid.
Condition: The print is in excellent condition - please inspect the image carefully as it is very accurate.
