DM5c Distinguished Service Cross - Signed by 7 DSC holders. Great Illustration. 1 Jun 85 Jersey. The award of the Distinguished Service Cross. The cover depicts 7 different aircraft with Silk Distinguished Service Cross Medal Cachet. Personally signed by 6 DSC holder and one facsimile. E. Brown, P. Twiss, D. Morgan, D. Kearns, Ian Robertson, W Garthwaite. F Russell (facsimile). Captain E. M. Brown CBE, DSC, AFC. Flew Martlet ( Wildcat ) fighter from the world's first and smallest escort aircraft carrier HMS Audacity in the winter of 1941, He was involved in the protection of the two of the most heavily attacked convoys of the war on the UK to Gibraltar route during which he shot down two large four - engined reconnaissance bombers and strafed a surface U - Boat with its probable loss. Later became Royal Navy's most distinguished test pilots specialising in German aircraft. Sir F. Russell facsimile signature. WW1 pilot. P. L. Twiss OBE, DSC Test pilot with the Fairey Aviation Company ltd 1946 Chief Test Pilot 1957 - 60. Flt Lt D. Morgan. RAF Harrier pilot loaned to the Royal Navy for the Falkland's Campaign, flew 57 operational sorties destroying a number of enemy aircraft. On 8 th June 1982he was one of a pair of Sea Harriers engaged 4 Argentinian A3 aircraft attacking landing craft at Bluff Cove. He destroyed 2 aircraft and attacked the other two with cannon then had to recover to his ship in the dark and landed with only two minutes fuel remaining. Awarded DSC for this display. Sqn Ldr D. C. L. Kearns in WW2 flew B24 Liberators after the war formed and Commanded No 275 Sqn first RAF Helicopter Rescue Sqn. !956 in command of the Joint RAF/Army helicopter unit embarked in HMS Ocean during the Suez Campaign. He led a large number of sorties ferrying RM Commandos from ship to shore in the face of enemy gunfire. This was the first time helicopters had been employed in an assault landing. Awarded DSC during these opposed landings. Rear Admiral I. G. Wm Robertson CB DSCPilot awarded DSC in 1944 for air strike operations against enemy shipping and attacks on the German battleship Tirpitz. Sir W. Garthwaite Bt, DSC WW11 operational pilot with Royal Navy flew Swordfish aircraft mentioned in despatches twice. His first DSC was awarded for torpedoing the Bismarck. Cover flown in Sea Harrier and signed by the pilot. Detailed insert card and photograph of holders. Details enclosed. Certified copy No 170 of 650. Signed. Good condition.
