1970s Italian, Murano, hand blown, sommerso - blue, yellow, red and clear large rectangular glass vase. A beautiful decorative piece perfect for a glass display case or shelf where the light can shine through it. The vase has been cut and polished with a beautiful yellow, red and blue inner design encased in clear glass. In very good vintage condition with no chips, scratches or cracks
Sommerso (Italian for "submerged") is the Murano glassmaking technique of creating two or more layers of contrasting glass without the colours mixing together. It is formed by dipping coloured glass into molten glass of a different colour, before blowing the glass into the required form.
