ADAM ADOLPHE: (1803-1856) French Composer. Best known for his ballet Giselle (1841) and his worldwide acclaimed Cantique de Noel ` O Holy Night´ (1847). A.L.S., ` A.Adam´, one page, 12mo, n.p., Wednesday, n.y., in French. The letter bears to the upper left corner a blind embossed monogramme with the composer´s initials, a double ''A''. Adam, in his usual small writing invites his correspondent to a musical evening, stating in part ` Seriez-vous assez aimable pour venir Vendredi soir chez moi: Je réunis quelques amis et nous faisons un peu de musique, nous serions tous bien heureux si vous êtes assez obligeant pour nous faire entendre quelques uns de vos morceaux...´ (Translation: " Would you be so kind as to come to my place on Friday evening: I am getting some friends together and we will be playing music, we would all be very happy if you would be so kind as to let us hear some of your pieces...")
