TOSCANINI ARTURO: (1867-1957) Italian Conductor. Renowned for his perfectionism, he leaded the Scala of Milan, The Metropolitan of New York and the NBC orchestra. He also premiered many famous operas such as Turandot of Puccini. A very good A.L.S., `Toscanini´, two pages, 4to, Trento, Monday 13th August 1934, on the printed stationery of the Hotel Bristol in Trento, to Bernardino Molinari, in Italian. Toscanini, in his usual large letters writing, starts thanking his correspondent for his present and states in part `Carissimo Molinari, Con quali parole devo ringraziarti (un po in ritardo) per la bella - magnifica partitura del Viaggio di Sigfrido che hai voluto regalarmi? La tengo cara - tanto cara... Un abbraccio d´amico affetuoso vale piu di tutte le belle parole e te lo faccio di tutto cuore...´ (Translation: "My dearest Molinari, With what words should I thank you (a little late) for the beautiful - magnificent score of Siegfried's Journey that you have decided to give me? I hold it with love and care - so beloved ... A warm friend's hug is worth more than all the beautiful words and I offer it to you with all my heart...") Further Toscanini refers to his immediate next future trips, including Milan and Salzburg, and further and before concluding, referring again to Wagner´s work Sigfried´s Rhine Journey, states`Ti pregherei d´incaricare che m´inviasse il materiale d´orchestra del Viaggio a Milano. Conto eseguirlo a Salzburg...´ (Translation: "I would ask you to instruct to send me the orchestral material for the Viaggio to Milan. I plan to perform it in Salzburg...") Accompanied by the original printed stationery envelope of the Bristol Hotel, addressed in Toscanini´s hand, postmarked and stamped. Very small creasing, otherwise VG
