A. A document confirming a divorce handwritten and signed by the Chief Rabbi of Tunisia Rabbi Moshe Shetrog.
Written on the official stationery of the Chief Rabbinate of Tunisia with the stamp of the Chief Rabbi. The stamp is in three languages: English, Arabic and Hebrew. Rosh Chodesh Av 1924.
Letters by Rabbi Moshe Shetrog have never been seen in auctions and are extremely rare.

Rabbi Moshe Shetrog, one of the most prominent rabbis of Tunisia, a great Torah and Talmud scholar, Chief Rabbi of Tunisia between the years 1921-1928. The disciple of Rabbi Avraham Chajaj author of "Zar'o shel Avraham". Authored the book "Yashiv Moshe" two sections with halachic responsum on the four parts of the Shulchan Aruch and the book "Shevet Achim" with his brother.

Condition: Good. Folding marks and stains.
B. Halachic responsum handwritten and signed by Rabbi Chalfon Moshe Ha'Cohen Chief Rabbi of Djerba, Nissan 1945.


In his responsum, Rabbi Chalfon rebukes the questioner: "We have heard that in your holy camp the groom does not bless the "Birkat Ha'Eirusin" but another man and surely you know that this was done in order not to shame a man who does not how to say the blessing … however, nowadays this is uncommon since everybody goes to school…"
At the end of the responsum, Rabbi Chalfon's handwritten signature. Beside his signature, Rabbi Chalfon added in parentheses "(our friend Rabbi Rachamim Chayuta Cohen is in Tunis and has therefore not signed here)". Usually, halachic rulings were signed by the Dayanim, the rabbi and his disciple Rabbi Rachamim Chai Chayuta Ha'Cohen.
Rabbi Chalfon Moshe Ha'Cohen (1874-1850), Av Beit Din and Chief Rabbi of Djerba. Authored many books on Halacha, Derash, Mussar and Aggadah including the Sho'el Ve'Nishal Responsa 9 sections, yad Moshe, Darkei Moshe, Halacha Le'Moshe. 57 years after his death, his coffin was brought to Israel and was buried in Har Ha'Menuchot on the 7th of Cheshvan 2005.
At the bottom of the page, a reponsum by Rabbi Daniel Ha'Cohen, Rabbi Chalfon's grandson, regarding the above matter.
On the reverse side of the leaf, a handwritten letter on the complete page. The writer's identity is unknown.
