A LETTER FROM LORD ARTHUR BALFOUR (July 25, 1848 - March, 19 1930) TO CHAIM WEIZMAN. Autographed Signed Letter (ALS). Arthur James Balfour, (1st Earl of Balfour) was a British conservative statesman who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1902 to 1905. As the foreign secretary to Lloyd George, he was the author of the Balfour Proclamation supporting a homeland for the Jewish people in British Mandate Palestine. This letter, dated 5/27/20 declines an invitation from Chaim Weizman to a chair at Albert Hall because of a previous engagement. 8.7" x 6.9".
