Nachalat Shimon (Disciple of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk) – Polonne, 1821 – Second Edition with Additions by Chassidic Leaders

Nachalat Shimon, ethical and Chassidic essays on the Torah portions, by R. Shimon Deutsch Ashkenazi Rabbi of Dobromyl, disciple of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk. Polonne: printer not indicated, [before 1821]. Second edition, with additions.
The first edition was published by the disciple of the author, R. Shmuel of Premisla (Przemyśl), and does not contain Torah thoughts on Parashat Bereshit and several other parashiot. Selected Torah thoughts on those parashiot from other Chassidic works were added in the present edition. These additions appear in the present edition only; subsequent editions were published based on the first edition, without the additions.
The author R. Shimon Deutsch Ashkenazi Rabbi of Dobromyl (d. 1801), a holy Torah scholar, foremost disciple of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk. He also exchanged halachic correspondence with leading rabbis of his times, leaving behind many compositions in manuscript form, which were all destroyed in a fire after his passing.
