W. H. Lancaster & CO. Whiskey Jug, Jackson, TN. The jug holds approx. 1/2 gallon and is marked "W H Lancaster & Co", Fine Whiskies, Wines, Brandies Etc., Jackson, Tenn. Impressed mark on base Macomb Pottery. This whiskey company has one of the most interesting stories of any jug we have ever sold. According to an April 12, 1908, Lexington Progress Story; Mr. Lancaster was closing his Jackson, TN liquor business and had shipped his whiskey to Lexington, TN by railroad boxcar. The Lexington Woman's Christian Temperance approached Mr. Lancaster and bought the full inventory of the boxcar. When the purchase was secured with a check for $264.95, the ladies marched to the railroad opened the boxcar, broke and smashed the contents on the side of the railroad.
