***Auction Highlight*** 1848-o Gold Liberty Eagle
***Auction Highlight*** 1848-o Variety 1 Gold Liberty Eagle $10 Graded ms61 By SEGS. The 1848-O eagle had a small mintage of 35,850 pieces, and most of these experienced extensive circulation. Mint State survivors are rare. This Uncirculated representative displays satiny fields with a hint of reflectivity near the borders. Scattered lines in the fields are the chief grade-limiting factor. The high points of the curls and the eagle's talons show minor strike weakness. Both sides display lovely straw-gold color with coppery-orange overtones in the fields. The S.S. Republic yielded nine examples of this issue from its treasure, although none were Mint State. The piece in the Smithsonian Institution also has slight high-point friction. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
