Ink on paper
30/20 cm

My work is intertwined with the landscape around me. For most of my adult life that means an urban concrete environment.
Uprooting is a constant part of my life and my philosophy is to become part of, but not assimilate. As such, my creative process is saturated with wherever it is that I live at that moment, but from a questioning and critical point of view.
The selected pieces are part of an ongoing project, exploring the streets of Jaffa which are in the midst of a gentrification process. Each piece was created by observing structures for hours. The sketches and paintings brought to life homes and drew me in. I found myself excavating the layers of history from behind closed doors or scaffolding. Piecing together pre-Nakba stories of Palestinian homes from fragments of information which cease abruptly in 1948.
