Near Pair of Dutch Oak 'Keeftkast' Cupboards
A Near Pair of Dutch Baroque Carved Oak 'Keeftkast' Cupboards, Late 17th Century. The rectangular moulded cornice above a frieze carved with foliate scrolls and figural supports, above a pair of architectural carved paneled doors divided and flanked by fluted Corinthian pilasters, raised on large bun feet. Having a shelved interior with pierced paneled doors. Each with applied paper label to the reverse inscribed 'HOTEL DE BELLEVUE / EN FACE / DU CHEMIN DE FER RHENAN / ET DU PARC ROYAL / PROPre C.J. VELSEN / LA HAYE'.
Dimensions: Height of smaller 70in; width 59in; depth 30in; height of taller 72 3/4in; width 59 1/2in; depth 28 3/4in.
Condition:
The cupboards are structurally sound. Each of the cupboard's cornices have elements of later rebuilding to the frieze. General marks, wear, scuffs, surface scratches and small losses throughout. Minor old repairs, replacements and rebuilding throughout. Each cupboard retains an iron lock. No keys. Each cupboard is in four parts (Cornice, Case, Two Doors).
