Locati LLC is proud to present American Furniture and Silver from the Collection of C Thomas Attix, Jr., who was a lifelong collector of American material culture with a particular fondness of furniture, coin silver, and Oriental rugs. His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

Philadelphia Queen Anne Style Leather Wingback Chair

A Philadelphia Queen Anne Style Upholstered Mahogany Wingback Chair,  20th Century. Possibly by Frank Auspitz (1923-2002), York, Pennsylvania. The arched crest rail flanked by shaped wings over outswept scrolled arms,  having four cabriole legs with shell carved knees, terminating in trifid feet. Covered in an oxblood leather upholstery with brass studs.

Dimensions: Height 46in; width 38in; depth of seat 20 1/4in; depth over all 29in; seat height 16 1/2in.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.


Condition:

Structurally sound. General marks, wear, and creases to the upholstery. Wear to leather heaviest to arms and cushion, otherwise good condition.
