COLLECTION OF MODEL CIRCUS AND ANIMALS
Mid-20th century. Elastolin and other brands. Includes composition animals (lions, tigers, gorillas, elephants, and more), plus people (mostly carved bodies and composition heads). Stanley Furst Byram (1905-1993) lived his entire life in Freeport, Illinois, working as a carpenter. He married twice (the first ending in divorce in 1953). Although apparently an active member of the Circus Model Builders and Owners Association, no other known examples of his models exist. This complete model, likely named after his father, William Byram (1871-1954), was purchased by Dr. James Dawson at one of the Nashville antiques show years ago. Provenance: From the collection of the late Dr. James Dawson, sold to benefit the Dr. James Dawson MD Women's Clinic in Uganda
Condition: Some wear and minor damage.
