The Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapiro of Lublin (1887-1934) the Rav of Lublin, one of the leaders of Polish Jewry between the two world wars and one of the leaders of Agudas Yisroel. A great Gaon who founded the Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin and the study of the Daf Yomi.
His brother the Admor Rabbi Avraham Shapiro of Tlust was Rav of his community in New York. Passed away in 1972.
