Classic. Sefer Manos HaLevi, Venice 1585. First Edition.
A complete copy of the classic Sefer Manos HaLevi, a commentary on Megillas Esther written by R. Shlomo Alkabetz of Safed. Although this work was actually completed in 1529, it wasn’t until 1585 that it was brought to print, around 13 years after his passing. Very Rare.
Marginal notes in oriental Sephardic hand seen on pp. 146, 147 and 158. With ownership stamp of Rahamim Ben Moshe Israeli. Additional ancient Sephardic signatures are seen.
In overall good condition. Light stains on some pages. Title page and first 3 leaves seemingly supplied from another copy. Worming seen on pp. 4-5, affecting several letters. An open tear seen on pp. 49, with loss of text. Open tear seen on pp. 226, affecting text. Marginal repairs to final 3 leaves, with some loss of text.
