A Fascinating Letter by R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, Jerusalem 1981.
A rare, fascinating letter handwritten by the Posek Hador, R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. In it, he responds to a question asked by a family going through hardships, what should they accept upon themselves for a Yeshua (salvation)?
He writes that although it is hard to advise a family whom he does not know personally, nevertheless it is advisable to learn Sefer Chofetz Chaim to merit a salvation. He explains that although Sefer Chofetz Chaim is a “Shulchan Aruch on the Laws of Lashon Hara” it is still not well learned and is considered a “Meis Mitzvah”. “It is therefore suggested to learn Sefer Chofetz Chaim and fulfill it well, to merit a salvation”.
It is rare to find letters of such unique content written by R. Elyashiv.
[1] handwritten leaf on official stationery. Approx. 17 handwritten lines. Dated 1981.
