Mule Entering the Barn Mechanical Bank
Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1880's. The Mule Entering Barn bank is a charming depiction of rural farm life, albeit presented In a very whimsical context. A small hidden brass spring effectuates the dynamic action of the bank. Place a penny between the mule's hind legs. He somersaults into the barn to make your deposit when the lever is pressed. At the same time, a small dog runs out from beneath the floorboards. This stellar example of the Mule Entering Barn was discovered about thirty years ago in the sales rooms of Christie's Auctions in London, England. It is a very rare occurrence to be confronted by a cast iron toy bank that is virtually 100% quality and never used. The red highlights on the barn and around the base are as bright today as they were nearly 150 years ago. This is a unique chance to add one of the finest condition mechanical toy banks in the hobby to one's collection.
Condition: Near Mint Condition with Original Box.
