Merry-Go-Round Bank
Red and Yellow Canopy. Made by the Kyser & Rex Company. Frankford, Pennsylvania - Mid 1880's. From the Gertrude Hegarty Collection. For most children, their first ride on the carousel represents a very exciting and exhilarating experience. One that they will remember through their lifetime. They must quickly overcome their trepidation of the whirling spiral effects of the spinning carousel as they bravely reach for the brass ring to win a prize. This wonderful toy bank very effectively captures that moment of transformative bliss. The ticket man, wand in hand, stands at the ready to take your penny for admission to the ride. The children sit atop carousel animals that include a swan, an ostrich, a dog, a camel and an elephant. Turning the crank animates the action and sounds a bell. The condition of the Hegarty (Haradin) Merry-Go-Round Bank is very exceptional. It has often been referred to as the finest extant example.
Condition: Near Mint Condition.
