FRENCH NAPOLEONIC ERA ROOSTER HEAD SAPPER'S SWORD
A French Napoleonic era sapper's sword, circa early 19th Century. Sappers, or combat engineers, would serve alongside infantry and cavalry units in the Napoleonic wars. Heavy blade with patina, displaying a crowing Gallic rooster head pommel and brass crossguard embossed with lion heads. The spine of the blade has some faint markings which would have displayed the maker information of the sword. The sword does not come with a scabbard. Total length of 36".
