Emerson, Lake & Palmer - In Concert Label: Atlantic Records SD 19255 Released: 1979 (US Pressing, Live Album)
This live album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) was recorded during their 1977-78 world tour, capturing their signature progressive rock sound. It was released in 1979 as the band’s final album before their initial breakup. The recording primarily features performances from the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, where the band was accompanied by an orchestra.
Track Highlights:
Peter Gunn Theme (Henry Mancini)
Tiger in a Spotlight
C'est La Vie (featuring Greg Lake)
Piano Concerto No. 1 (Keith Emerson)
Pictures at an Exhibition (Mussorgsky/ELP)
Knife Edge
This first US pressing was issued on Atlantic Records and features the iconic cover art of a blue-toned aerial view of a stadium stage, aligning with ELP’s grandiose live performances.
Condition (Based on Visual Inspection):
Cover Condition:
The front and back covers retain good color but show moderate wear.
Noticeable edge wear and corner rounding.
Some scuffing and light creasing present.
Spine shows minor fraying but is still legible.
Inner Sleeve Condition:
The original printed inner sleeve is included, featuring a black-and-white group photo.
Some yellowing and light crinkling.
Vinyl Condition:
The record has visible surface scuffs and light scratches.
The Atlantic label remains clean and intact.
Needs cleaning and audio testing to determine playback quality.
Final Notes:
A solid copy of a classic live album, ideal for progressive rock collectors and ELP fans.
Given the moderate cover wear, some surface scuffs on the vinyl, and signs of handling, this LP would be graded as Very Good (VG) to Very Good Plus (VG+) under Goldmine Grading Standards.
If playback is clear with only minor noise, it may be upgraded to VG+ audio grading.
