A BADGE OF THE SAPPER LIFE GUARD BATTALION.
A Badge of the Sapper Life Guard Battalion was established on October 28, 1912 in connection with the centenary of the formation of the battalion on December 27, 1812. It is a bas-relief copy of the monument to the Life Guards Sapper Battalion - a double-headed eagle sitting on a pedestal under the imperial crown with the coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Moscow (George the Victorious, striking a serpent with a spear) on his chest, and holding a scepter and a laurel wreath in its paws. Below is a plate with the inscription "To the Sapper Life Guard Battalion Feats". Silver with gilding. Russian hallmarks on the back of the badge.
Dimensions: 1 3/4 x 1 5/8 in., (4.7 x 4.2 cm.)
