GEORGE T. ANDERSON
(1824 - 1901) Confederate general noted as one of Robert E. Lee's hardest-fighting subordinates, seeing combat at Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Appomattox. Post-war A.L.S. 'Geo. T Anderson', 2pp. 8vo., Tuscaloosa, March 29, 1887, enclosing a war-date photograph. In part: '...Enclosed I send you a photo taken six years since and pronounced at the time a good picture...' Signed at the conclusion. Very good. The left edge has been tipped to a 9 x 9 in. mount, to which the referenced photograph has also been affixed. Anderson also signs the mount 'G.J. Anderson...Brig Genl. C.S.A.' just beneath the photograph.
