Guide to Jaffa, Jerusalem and its surroundings, by Alexander Howard (Iskander Awad). Preceding the title page are Howard's portrait and a map of Palestine (folded plate).
Chevalier Iskander Awad (who changed his name to Alexander Howard), was a Maronite Christian born in Malta. Howard worked as an agent for the "Thomas Cook" tour company. In Palestine he built hotels in Jaffa and Jerusalem (His hotel in Jerusalem later became Hotel Fast) and operated a carriage line to Jerusalem.
