A calligraphy textbook by Italian calligrapher Giovanni Battista Palatino (1515-1575). With plates of letter illustrations and examples of different writing styles (including the Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek, Cyrillic, Egyptian and other alphabets). Author's portrait appears on the title page.
The book's author was one of the prominent calligraphers of the first half of the 16th century.
The textbook was first published in 1540 with the title Libro Nuovo D'imparare a Scrivere, garnered great success and printed in additional, extended editions.
