Letter from Rabbi Yechezkel Moshe Fishman, Av Beit Din of Miskolc – 1839
A handwritten and signed letter by the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Yechezkel Moshe Fishman, Av Beit Din of Miskolc.
Rabbi Yechezkel Moshe Fishman, Av Beit Din of Miskolc (1795–1875). Disciple of his father Rav Avraham Lifshitz Av Beis Din of Nyíház and disciple of the Gaon known as the "Shemen Rokeach". He was given Semicha by the Maharam Bennet and was accepted to the Pressburg Rabbinate, with the encouragement of the Chasam Sofer. He held Torah discussions with the Maharam Ash and the Mahari Assad, who describes him such: "
My dear friend of my soul, my precious one, the Rav and Gaon, extremely special and famous, the wise and expert, son of holy people, Tzaddik and on a high level, whose name is Moreynu Harav Rav Yechezkel Moshe Lifshitz, may his light shine, Av Beis Din of Mishkolz." (Responsa of the Mahari, Even Ha'ezer Chapter 92) His son is the Gaon and Tzaddik, the Maggid from Pressburg, Rav Shraga Fish Fishman. His son-in-law is Rav Amram Hirsh, Av Beis Din of Hamburg.
