Letter from Rav Yitzchak Halevi Schuster, av"d Sokolka, 1937.


Rav Yitzchak Halevi Schuster av"d Sokolka, son-in-law of Rav Nachum Greenhaus, av"d Troki, was known for his rare mastery of Torah, and of the Talmud Yerushalmi in particular, which earned him the moniker "Der Lebediker Yerushalmi" (the living Yerushalmi). He was also noted for his influential communal role. A leader of Agudas Yisrael, he worked closely with Rav Chaim Ozer and Rav Shimon Shkop, and even accompanied on his journey to the United States in 1929.
