Abuchatzeira Family. Letter written by Rav Shalom Abuchatzeira av”d Béchar. [1938].

Letter written and signed by Rav Shalom Abuchatzeira, righteous scion of the illustrious Abuchatzeira family.

Rabbi Shalom Abuchatzeira av"d Béchar was one of the foremost Torah masters of the Abuchatzeira family. He was an outstanding genius, who dedicated himself entirely to learning and fear of God. He, simply put, did not stop learning night or day. He was profoundly humble and fear of Heaven was the foundation of his Torah wisdom.  His cousin, the Baba Sali, referred to him in a Torah letter with many accolades and titles. (Refer to Hebrew catalogue text for full quote.) Refer to Geonei Mishpachat Abuchatzeira, section 2, p. 197 for his full biography.

He was born in Tafilalt in 1893, the son of Rav Aharon, the son of the Abir Yaakov. In 1923, he began his almost forty-year stint as rabbi of Colomb-Béchar, Algeria. In 1960, he moved to France, where he served as rabbi of Marseilles until his death in 1974. His printed works include: Kaf Achat on Mishnayot; Zehav Sheva on Tehillim; Meilitz Tov on Shulchan Aruch Even HaEzer; Divrei Shalom on Tanach and Klei Kessef on the Parshiot. He also published his grandfather's work, Levona Zaka (Alexandria, 1929).

Béchar, [1938]. Large leaf. 21x13 cm. Fine condition.
