Abuchatzeira Family. Ketuba from the marriage of the daughter of Rabbi Yechyeh Abuchatziera of Tiveria, grandson of the Abir Yaakov. Tiberias [1918].
Ketuba contract for the bride “Maras Azizah the
daughter of the complete sage, scion of the holy, Yecheyeh Abuchatzeira.”
Rabbi Yechyeh Abuchatzeira was the only son of Rabbi Avraham Abuchatzeira, the third son of the Abir Yaakov. He was a sage and rabbi in Tiberias, who spent most of his time inside his home, sitting on a mat, thinking in Torah. He arranged a large yearly commemoration of the death of his grandfather, the Abir Yaakov. In the great flood in Tiberias of 1934, he was miraculously saved from the floodwaters and didn’t even get wet, though he was sitting on the floor on his mat. In 1938, he left his house and was stabbed by an Arab and died two days later.
His daughter, “Rabbanit Azizah” lived her entire life in the shadow of her great father and lived in his home even after her marriage. Refer to
Sefer Geonei Mishpachat Abuchatzeira, section four, from p. 49, for more information and a picture of this bride and groom.
Large contract (38x50 cm. Printed in gold letters at the Zukerman press in Jerusalem. With illustrations of the holy sites. Fold marks and a few tears.
