Passover Haggadah with Italian Translation. Venice, 1629. Many Artistic Pictures
Passover Haggadah in Hebrew and in Italian translation, with several pictures of the signs and wonders ... and the entire service of Kadesh, U'Rechatz ... and the plagues on Egypt and illuminated letters ... and some wonderful things. Venice, 1629.
Passover haggadah, per the Bnei Romi custom, with an elucidation and an Italian translation in vowelized Hebrew letters and with the Tzli Esh commentary by Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh of Modena, who abbreviated the Abarbanel's commentary, with an introduction from him. First edition of 'Tzli Esh' which was later printed in dozens of editions.
Each page in the haggadah is surrounded by an architectural border and with pictures. The pictures surround the page on all four sides. The pictures are woodcuts. Magnificent large-format artistic haggadah.
One of the first haggadahs since the invention of the printing press, printed with special beauty and craftsmanship, with so many pictures. On page 26a: Almachtigger G-tt.
This haggadah serves as a basis for several subsequent publications printed in the same format, and it is the culmination of the illuminated haggadahs printed in Venice. Refer to B. Ruth, "HaHaggadah HaMetzuyeret SheBaDfus" - Areshet, III, 1961, p. 22.
Ya'ari 41, Otzar HaHaggadot 55, Ginzei Yisrael 372.
This haggadah was published in 1981 in a special edition, numbered facsimiles, 79 copies on parchment, published by Duksustos Editore, Milan.
[26] leaf, 33 cm. Magnificent new leather volume.
The haggadah has been professionally restored with light completions primarily in the white margins. Many aging and usage stains. Overall fine condition.
