Zhitomir Shapira. Very rare!!! Tikkunei Shabbat and Pesach Haggadah. 1860. The personal copy of the "Saba Kadisha, " Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari

Tikkunei Shabbat and Pesach Haggadah, printed by Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira at the renowned Zhitomir press.

The personal copy of the "Saba Kadisha, " Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari.
On the front protective page is the rabbinical stamp of the holy Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari zt”l, written in three languages, indicating his position as the Chief Rabbi of the holy city of Safed. This is a sacred book, printed in holiness, that was used by a holy individual.
Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari (c. 1813–1930), known as the "Saba Kadisha" (The Holy Elder), was one of the greatest rabbis in Turkey and lived for over 100 years. A brilliant scholar and esteemed Kabbalist, even in his youth, he corresponded with Rabbi Akiva Eiger. He served as a rabbi in Constantinople and Damascus. At around 100 years of age, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and served as the Chief Rabbi of Safed. In his later years, he moved to Jerusalem, where he passed away. While living in Jerusalem, he declined all communal roles, choosing instead to focus on studying Kabbalah with other great sages of the city. In his final year, the Minchat Elazar of Munkatch visited him to discuss various Kabbalistic topics. (It is recounted that when asked about this visit, the Minchat Elazar replied in the name of the Baal Shem Tov that in every generation, there is one leader who represents Mashiach ben Yosef, and in our generation, it was Rabbi Alfandari. *Yeshurun 30, p. 514*). Rabbi Alfandari authored *She'elot U'Teshuvot Maharshal*, *She'elot U'Teshuvot Saba Kadisha*, and other works.
This book includes leaves 12–56, containing Tikkunei Shabbat, *Zemirot* for Shabbat and Motza’ei Shabbat, Chanukah candle-lighting, Kiddush for Rosh Hashanah, Kaparot ritual, Bedikat Chametz ritual, Kiddush for the Three Festivals, and the Pesach Haggadah.
The complete book is exceptionally rare. The National Library of Israel holds an incomplete copy. The book is titled: *Order of Birkat HaMazon with the Haggadah according to Ashkenazi and Polish customs... entirely in Hebrew Yiddish*. Zhitomir, by Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira, 1860.
The complete copy includes 57 leaves. The copy before us begins with *Tikkunei Shabbat* on leaf 12 and ends with the Pesach Haggadah on leaf 56, missing one final page.
