FRENCH MODEL 1874 "GRAS" SWORD BAYONET, 1877
A French Model 1874 "Gras" infantry rifle sword bayonet. Made in 1877. This bayonet has a solid brass pommel with integral latching mechanism, wood handle, and a steel crossguard with muzzle ring. The spine of the bayonet is engraved with the maker information "Mre d' Armes de St. Etienne Mai 1877". Comes completed with the original blued scabbard. There is some rust developing as you move down the scabbard. The bayonet blade is in exceptional condition, with very minor tarnishing and wear.
